for a moment
i thought i can forget,
mere thoughts, fleeting thoughts
that flicker like fireflies at dusk
which later fly high to the stars
to sparkle in the night,
memories that burn,
embers in the dark
morning comes,
i thought i can forget
but when the sun breaks through
upon the sand, the sea, the clouds,
all i see is how i cupped your face
to look deep into your eyes
as seagulls circled, cried, and flew
to the infinite skies
in my walks,
i thought i can forget
but then the haze lifts up
to your distant Tuscan dreams,
glistening above the hilltops,
beckoning me to come again,
but how could i,
when life is not complete
i travel on, i travel on,
thinking i can forget,
but when i rest
at meadows and silent streams,
i start to look for your familiar face,
your bright smiles, your teasing eyes,
then storm clouds descend
leaving me searching in the rain
it is evening,
thinking i can forget,
i close my eyes to all our dreams,
but like a song that plays on
when the music ends,
it is now your voice i hear,
chasing rainbows,
again and again and again
