i sit on the grass to watch the sunset glide
as its top rim skims the tree tops of our dream
and then slowly lifts to a sunrise of another day,
a time when night and day become one
like you and i when we were together,
a moment in unmeasurable time
bright sparks fly up to the unreachable sky
as bonfires consume so many desires,
shadows pass in front of fickle fires
when night becomes day
and day just a moment ago was night,
as i sit alone untrampled by the crowd
i dreamed my dreams
that no one else had shared,
you alone understood my soul;
now i sit at the threshold
of midsummer night,
between sanity and pain
you alone carried me through darkest days,
through witching hours of loneliness
on velvet nights when we talked
as we borrowed moments of happy times;
now evening has passed on to another day,
a new day when i’ll sit again alone at night
