No sound was sweeter than you singing the song ‘Mandy, ‘
Caressing, embracing tones,
In perfect pitch, we never felt alone,
Stable jockey with blond hair, blue eyes,
Fun was always your character,
Kissed by the beaming sun.
Driving us back to the Heath House,
Where our mobile homes stood proudly,
With darkened sky,
Car headlights shining on the glistening, rain soaked, country roads,
We chatted, laughing at the sheer joy of the life we sowed,
Just four co-workers, friends, young and free,
Passing by tall trees, branches reaching out crookedly,
Ready to touch our souls.
Stars twinkling showing the way to different galaxies,
Were in orbit, on a spinning top,
Then you start singing our anthem, ‘Mandy, ‘
In soothing, mellow tones, going so deep,
Moving us to feel in our hearts, to weep.
Life was a show stopping caberet,
Woven with riding thoroughbred horses,
Highly strung, finely tuned,
Feeling their power beneath us, muscles contracting,
Striding out like elastic stretching,
Galloping around the Heath on its clay surface,
We relished the fast pace,
At one with beautiful animals of amazing structure,
Ready to race.
We shone with health but we had no wealth,
The drive back was a concert,
With you the star attraction,
A solo performance outstanding,
Sending us rocketing to a moon landing,
Freedom was finding living on the edge untamed,
Living was our taste of fame,
In our galaxy of four glowing stars.
The future turned out to be, not so kind to us,
But those moments now captured in words,
Of our pleasure of hearing the sweetest sound,
Along many miles with such wide smiles,
The moon bowing in respect to our friendship intact,
With our extreme wealth of happiness,
For a short time, before the fall,
I treasure such precious memories,
For the eternal light inside us all.
