In her local park, winter looks quite stark
With nude trees, their knarled branches
Reaching out like the sign of nature’s mark,
Swans glide like graceful ballerinas on
The mighty river Barrow which flows with an ancient force,
Cold, murky, in the distance she can see the Killeshin hills of course,
The playground echoes with the lost laughter
Of when she was just a child,
She had the courage to be wild,
Free like the ease of nature’s change
Now she walks tensely with just the memories of his love out of range,
Routine was not an easy journey for her, a challenge to tame,
Her boredom of their lifestyle drove her husband far away,
She wanted fun and more fun with the rising sun,
To welcome every new day,
With her passion of life burning energy,
The park was always her release of untamed emotions,
Trapped in a marraige with no motion,
Now the coldness of winter slaps her in the face,
She knows her husband was an ace,
Losing him has changed the expression on her young face
To an emptiness of winters slow pace,
Her inner child is no longer wild,
Just a heart that is tamed with still the instinct of a child,
She cries with such longing for her lost love,
As the moody sky changes above
On a bare branch perches a lark
To sing it’s familiar melody in the park,
The beautiful sound brings a smile to her face,
She will fight to win back her husband
As the eerie silence is shattered,
She will find him on his beloved land,
The fields of freedom,
As she lovingly slips on her gold wedding band.
