This was inspired by a poem of the same title that was written by Sandra Feldman and posted on PoemHunter.com
to write one poem
that defines one solitary life …
to choose a sun
out of a myriad stars,
to raise a mountain
from other jutting rocks …
to catch a petal
from all the swirling mass,
or drain the ocean
to treasure one last drop …
one poem captures one part
of what one holds, and feels, and sees,
how then can one choose
one poem from out one life?
one poem is more like
one life that flickers
with bright stanzas
in the night
one poem that is written
in order to be shared,
as one life is lived
likewise to be shared
here i am, therefore,
one poem out of life,
just passing thru,
flickering in the dark
