You are the softness of my life
my only refuge from hurt an strife

Alone my soul aches, cold as ice
you by my side its warm an nice

as if the sun’s no more warm
the sky is cast and out to harm

the way ahead an alien stretch
finding my feet an uphill fret

all over the worlds riches abound
I’m lost when you’re not around

on impulse I reach to hold you close
you are my fix my healing dose

With you gone I am bleak an queer
with you around, as blithe as a deer

alone I cower an skulk in shadows
with you by me to dance in meadows

your smile itself is home and hearth
that gives me life and its worth

you outa sight I can scarcely breathe
my thoughts then shift to floral wreaths
