Staring into murky waters, dull with age.
Barely moving, ripples lazily floating
downstream.
Thoughts alight upon a fallen leaf,
carried off to distant lands where one
can breathe the air of freedom.
Leaves hanging over shoulders, nature
caressing an innate spirit, breathing
sighs of intense relief.
Letting go the flood gates rusted with
years of misuse, pouring unmercifully,
horrors of the past upon a frail human
being.
