That country has never been her enemy.
She speaks its language, it uses hers freely.
Its flags make her heart lurch
and its music is indistinguishable from her desire.
Certainly, there are forests
only the crowns of which she has seen,
and a great river that keeps them green.
It is no reflection upon her that
she lacks a visa.
There is no visa.
Ambassadors come constantly
with a great variety of gifts:
blossoms and leaves.
She lives at its frontier, goes and comes
along its border, touching the great seal
with her hand.
The king comes over to sleep with her.
