Me and my hot coffee black as coal,
are up and around once again,
without a fast train of morning thought
as a bright red cardinal had caught my eyes,
out the den window on the clothesline
oh, what a lovely bird, much to pretty to see him in a windowpane
so I stepped outside and greeted him in the early Autumn rain.
in enough time to watch his feather wings take off in flight
twas then about that time wild geese walking caught my sight,
on the other side so I went over and walked along with them,
like we were old friends as the fog was being lifted across the plain
much to beautiful I thought not to capture them in a frame,
out in the early Autumn morning rain
