My love and I sat upon a rock, our table for two,
as the Shenandoah River, provided our water view.
No shiny silverware or fancy linens covered the top of the rock,
but plastic utensils, napkins, paper plates and our pizza box.
The canopy of forest trees provided us their cool shade,
upon our thirty fifth wedding anniversary dinner date.
We spoke of things that only lovers that long can do,
as a peaceful tune flowed out the river for just us two.
The uncut wildflowers were nearby our table side,
that the love from Mother Nature did lovely provide.
The foundation of our love of all these years together,
had drawn us here and to this spot as solid as a rock with
plastic utensils, napkins, paper plates and our pizza box.
