Running away from love,
Running away from loneliness,
She runs faster than the incoming tide,
She often feels like saying goodbye
To this planet of destruction,
She feels she could right the world under her instruction,
She has been running here, there and yonder,
Hot countries feast on her wanderlust ways,
She does spend time on reflection and a chance to ponder,
Ireland was a rain sodden enemy that destroyed her heart,
She lives, loves and hates but always has time to wander,
To wander and wonder at people and places,
Her tears fall as she is far from her homeland,
Impulsive and wild as the wind that rages against the past,
She is on stage now in a foreign pub with a band,
Her whole being pulsates with life and living.
In the here and now with her heart and soul giving,
No yesterdays,
Only today and tomorrow,
She has no need for possessions, just her basic way,
But in the early hours of the morning,
She cries and cries for her mum’s terrible life,
Like a warning to her to never become anybody’s wife,
Her father a man who ruled his own world,
Love and hate chases her across dusty, humid and dry continents,
She runs from the screams in her head
In this planet of destruction and heart bleeding moments,
She could right the wrong, make an injustice feel the justice,
Dark will become light
But light can become dark,
She hears the seagulls cries above her loving oceans,
She will find peace as the waves pound onto a lonely stretch of beach,
Life is within reach.
