Chellamma looks up with desolate eyes,
Chased by thousand worries to pay a price,
Crossed just twenty five young summers,
Confused about another twenty five dreary winters,
Conditioned beyond her youthful years,
Condemned by fate to terrible fears!
Husband hung himself leaving them shocked,
Harassed by debts, drought and poverty,
How will she fend for herself now?
How will she feed her two children now?
Not a grain of rice in her kitchen pot!
Not a penny in her torn purse!
