Krishna afflicted by Cupid’s arrows is upset and is in a state of painful separation from Radha. He looks for Radha, searches for her everywhere but of no avail.
Tired and dejected, he enters a creeper-laden abode along the banks of Kalindhi river.
Krishna repentant says:
Radha watching me with the other Gopés
Has left me and gone!
Is Radha very angry with me?
O! How is that I could not stop her?
Good God! My wayward ways have angered Radha.
How sad that she has left me!
Separated from me for so long
What will she do and say?
If I do not find her, alas!
What is the use of all the wealth in the world?
What is the need of any relatives either!
What for do I live then?
Why do I require a house?
Good God! My wayward ways have angered Radha.
How sad that she has left me!
I visualise Radha’s face
Like a red lotus flower,
As if a bee hovering around her brows!
Is her troubled countenance with twitched brows?
Good God! My wayward ways have angered Radha.
How sad that she has left me!
Radha remains deeply embedded in my heart,
Then, why is it that I am searching for her in the forest?
Why am I so desperate?
Good God! My wayward ways have angered Radha.
How sad that she has left me!
I do not know why you left me?
You are jealous and unhappy!
Do understand, I have done no wrong
I do not know how to console you.
Good God! My wayward ways have angered Radha.
How sad that she has left me!
I imagine you before me,
But not in a way like it always has been.
The way you greet and embrace me,
Will no more be the same again!
Good God! My wayward ways have angered Radha
How sad that she has left me
If you pardon me now,
I shall never again repeat,
My careless behaviour!
My beautiful one! If only you will come,
Before me, please!
Cupid is torturing me unbearably.
Good God! My wayward ways have angered Radha.
How sad that she has left me!
The fair moon rises out of the calm sea,
In the beautiful village of Bindubilva,
Where poet Jayadeva composes,
This song of repentant Krishna
Full of love for his darling Radha!
