What the birds say
is colored. Shade
feels the thickness
shrubs make in a
July growth,
heavy brown thorns
for Autumn, curled
horns in double
rows. Listening
the birds fly
down, in shade. Leaves
of darkness turn
inward, noises
curve inward, and
the seed talks.
(Suggested by one of Henry Moore’s sculptures.)
