were we once cutthroats and connivers?
If the mirror now has an upset stomach to glimpse us
were we once charming and handsome?
What does the slow turning of the ages do?
Is there also karma pulling the strings of our destiny?
Is there any escape from genetic manipulation or happenstance?
Do we ever spring from the loins of the wrong father
and arrive in the arms of the wrong mother?
Can one be lost and void in their own eyes
and only find solace in choosing a new disguise?
