1, A Birthday Wish © Catherine Pulsifer
Be yourself, we love and appreciate you
Imagine and achieve all you can be
Relax this day and celebrate another year
Take time to look after you, you are so dear
Humor, never lose your sense of humor
Determination you do have that great quality
Attitude, yours is positive and felt by others
Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not here, live today and enjoy the yea
2, 80th Birthday In May © Don Miller
In three hours my 80th birthday party will begin
I guess I’m as ready as I ever am
There will be good foods, drinks and music in the air
As I sit at my table taking in my affair
Plus of course friends will tinkle in
Two by two they will waltz and spin
Hopefully they will not bear a present
Just their smile brings warmth instead
Anne my beautiful wife at my side
Dementia hasn’t been kind
Sixty years been together
In mild and crazy weather
But we had weathered all the storms
Even though now I do miss the makeup kisses
I only hope she will make it to her birthday
September 26th will be her special day
3, The Passing Years © Edward Tuck
Age is a quality of mind:
If you have left your dreams behind,
If hope is lost,
If you no longer look ahead,
If your ambition’s fires are dead,
Then you are old.
But if from life you take the best
And if in life you keep the jest,
If love you hold,
No matter how the years go by,
No matter how the birthdays fly,
You are not old.
4, Featured Poem Of The Month © Mark Shaughnessy
The other day my Sister Joan,
Contacted me by telephone,
To tell me of a wondrous trip,
She’d taken to the Vegas Strip.
For coming soon there was for Joan,
The not so happy milestone,
Of turning forty and no doubt,
My sister Joan was freaking out.
For weeks she endlessly complained,
While driving all who heard insane,
That one day soon she’d wake at dawn,
To find her youth forever gone.
But home from the Las Vegas scene,
My sister Joan seemed quite serene,
For there she bought to ease her loss,
A tour book by E. Kubler-Ross,
Which mapped the sites to find relief,
And navigate each stage of grief.
Now first, Joan said I stayed a while,
At MGM s Hotel Denial,
Where all day long it’s no surprise,
I basked in self-deluded lies.
“You re only as old as you feel!”
I shouted with affected zeal,
Along with other fibs aplenty,
Like, “Forty s really the new twenty!”
And, “God! I look so young and fit!
You know, I haven’t changed a bit!”
Feeling good I went to scrounge,
Up cocktails at The Anger Lounge,
The Vegas bar scene looking bleak,
I strolled into a posh boutique,
For sadness quite often brings,
The urge to do some bargaining.
I queried, feigning self esteem,
How much to buy that wrinkle cream?
Or do you think you could supply,
A bit of botox on the sly?
Famished from my self-obsession,
I dined at La Maison de Pression,
With renowned chef, the grandiose,
And aptly named Monsieur Morose,
Tonight, he said, our sad menu,
Includes my favorite, Hopeless Stew.
We start with tears plucked from your face,
And add them to a Prozac base,
Then very finely we anoint,
It with a spice called what’s the point.
So tell me please, when you decide,
For I’ll be on the ledge outside,
I got the sense my meal was done,
When Morose dialed 911.
And so I thought it time to go,
Back into town to catch a show,
Out on the strip a grand display,
Read: Midlife Crisis de Soleil.
And underneath, the stern reprise,
Acceptance of One s Own Demise,
And then I realized that’s it!
This woman doesn’t give a wit!
When forty came, she didn’t frown,
She ponied up and doubled down!
And after that I felt okay,
For finally I had found my way,
And cast aside these aging fears,
At least for ten or twenty years.

She is our family entertainer
She is the one who makes us laugh and cry at the same time
She is as strong as the one standing behind him
She keeps on proving himself each time successfully
A woman with a golden heart
Our love for you knows no bounds
My best buddy for life

Screaming Happy Birthday all the way
To my princess of hearts
Words cannot express
How much I miss you and think about you
I would do anything to get one of your amazing hugs
To hear your voice one more time
7, Dear Old Friend © Anonymous
Happy birthday,
my dear old friend.
These birthday wishes,
I wish to extend.
It doesn’t matter,
the age that you’ve turned.
These candles and memories,
you certainly have earned.
Looking back,
at all those wonderful years.
Many were filled,
with joy and sweet cheers.
May this birthday,
be your very best.
To have you as my friend,
I have been blessed.
Another year,
I hope that it’s kind.
With warmth in your heart,
and peace in your mind.
Happy birthday,
my dear old friend.
Precious time with you,
I’m hoping to spend.
8, Flowers of the Heart © Anonymous
Look outside,
it’s a beautiful day.
flowers have formed,
a splendid bouquet.
Each has been chosen,
with the outmost of care.
To bring you a smile,
right now as I share.
We celebrate with joy,
the day of your birth.
I wish I could give you,
every flower on earth.
On the fields of happiness,
these flowers have grown.
Like the years in the wind,
each petal has flown.
Please accept these words,
and this humble bouquet.
The flowers in my heart,
I shall always display.
9, 50th Birthday Invitation © Dena Vogel
It’s my birthday and I’m turning fifty,
We’ll sit outside and cook on the grill,
There will be lots of food we’ll have a great meal,
Jeff will do the cooking no it’ll be me,
No gifts do I want just you to be there,
Just come and have fun and show that you care,
I’ll bake a cake it’ll have to be a biggie,
To hold all those candles I’m going to be fifty!
So come and have fun and we’ll sit for awhile,
We’ll chit and we’ll chat and make everybody smile,
So if I forget which I sometimes do,
You made my birthday special and I want too,
10, Best Birthday Ever © Joanna Fuchs
May this birthday be your best birthday ever,

creating happiness and satisfaction
whenever you remember it.
Happy, happy birthday!
11, One Day © Ofentse Victorious Thomas
The sun will smile on me
And Mud be the only stain
To remind me that rain
ever poured over me
Heaven knows no shadow
My Angels will witness
Their son grow
And toast to success
One day
That black academic gown
Will move to my heart beat
The world to bow down
To Abazali’s tears and sweat
Time will acknowledge my mistakes
And applaud the sacrifices,
The late night cries
And silent prayers.
One day
I’ll stand taller than my dreams
Peace on my palms
Like I’ve never tasted the earth
And dared the very notorious death
To an extreme fist fight
But at bell sound
My ambitions will take flight
And fly higher than a stoned mind
One day
I’ll say I made it
Bruised and tired
I’ll say I survived it
I may have once failed
But My very short story
Knows Victory.
12, I Have Wishes For You © Mayie Cachero
To the one person I trust the most,
The person I run to when I feel lost,
The one who help me ward off my ghost,
When I need you to, you’re always close.
On your special day, I have wishes for you,
First is happiness, long lasting one that’s true,
Forget all the sadness, please never be blue,
Now give me a smile, a big one will do.
I hope you find love one day soon,
A special girl who can keep up to your tune,
But for now just look at the moon,
Or spend your time watching cartoon.
But seriously, you know I wish you all the best,
I pray to God that you’ll always stay blessed,
There maybe times that He’ll put you to test,
Just call on me we’ll get thru it, don’t be depressed.
Thru happiness or surrounded by clouds of gray,
You know I’ll always be here each and every day,
But for now have a great time and enjoy your special day,
Happy Birthday to you, that’s what I want to say.

It’s your birthday time again;
It’s true; there’s no denying,
Another year has come and gone;
You know that I’m not lying.
So for you, the birthday person,
Here’s what I want to say:
I hope this birthday’s the best one yet,
In every delightful way.
So happy birthday to you.
Have lots of birthday fun!
May your birthday wishes all come true,
Even if you have a ton.
14, Happy Birthday © Michelle Morris
All happiness to you, may this day of birth bring;
When you celebrate your special day and others to you sing.
All blessings to you, in this your new year;
May you go forward with gladness and never shed any tears.
All peace to you today and forever always;
May you experience profound contentment for the rest of your God given days.

The owl has nested his head
the raven croaked to bed
the heavens spray new rays from source…

Herald, listen: the beauty of the dawn chorus.
Not till the final i finds its dot
the cross to T its spot
not till Aôndo’s face
shines a stop—would you leave this place.
The day calls yet to the child
wonder hidden in the man whole.
Answer: there’s play outside, wild
play that lifts the soul.
