THE LONG DAY IS ABOUT TO BEGIN
The long day is about to begin
Where it will lead me I do not know
I am not as well as I would be
I must forget in the course of the day
Many disappointments-
And act if this day were an adventure
Whose meaning is real-
The light of the morning will soon come
And change everything
For a time
Into more light-
But the day will be long
And I will tire
And pray at its close
Only to sleep-
And now I must begin somehow
Some way.
