it is sad to see
the coconut tree dead
its old trunk had been
debarked
it has been a year
already and the tree
has decayed a bit
but not fallen from where
it stood
on the other side of this
sadness
are the birds with beaks
boring a hole on its side
to make it their home
eggs are laid and soon
they will hatch
soon the fledglings
will make their usual sounds
of helplessness waiting
for their mothers to fee
them
upon such a decadent tree
a cycle of life is made.
