The lonely times,
When you’re not here with me,
Are harder to endure
Now that I have you
In my life.
I was alone before,
And grew resigned, content.
But you’ve opened up a door,
And now I want more.
You’ve brought such happiness
And laughter to me.
I was so numb before.
That wall around my heart is coming down,
And you’re playing a part.
It all began so simply
With a knock upon your door,
And then you invited me in.
We shared a long, mutual talk,
And then you asked me for a hug.
That hug awakened something
In us both.
Neither of us wanted to let go.
We felt so perfect in each others’ arms.
Six record-breaking, long hugs later,
It just doesn’t feel right
On days when we’re apart.
It’s harder to wait until our next hug.
