Value Real Friendship
A poem by Paul Sebastian
True friend is not easily found
One’s built through all seasons
Trust, faithfulness are built on
One comes for God-sent reasons
Some stay around for a season
Then, walk away for no reason
Some come to test you patience
Drop when you of no importance
Some come searching for something
Look for things, something for nothing
Some heart-bruised come for healing
They recover then, forget everything
Some seek to fill their love void
Find it in wrong places, embroiled
Some unable to love and be loved
Use or get used, somehow strive
Friendship is deep and profound
It’s unconditional, pillars are sound
It last through meandering trials
Give and take, love’s free style
Its not self-centred but other-centred
For who you are, you are accepted
Not perfect, you are what you’ve got
Each is unique, beautiful, sent by God
Real friend is non-judgmental
Nor is one who’s too difficult
A friend whom you can confide
Your heart’s ebb flow and tide
Treasure, respect each relationship
Value innate love-gifts of real friendship
Precious real friends, not easily found
Life is short, no second chance around
