He seems to know my arrival time
Waiting at the gate every time
Seeing me jumps up and down
Barks announcing arrival, the whole town
Wags his tails furiously
Looking at me happily
Walks me to my house door
Sits at the door, waiting once more
To feed him, his favourite biscuit
An outing around the lake park circuit
Pulling at the leash, leads the walk
Enjoying the walk, making not, a bark
Stops, identifies his tree, answers nature’s call
His walk route, my exercise track, he knows well
Focused, sees my exercise routine is complete
Not allowing a stall, even when someone greets
In my armchair, doing my reading
At my feet, he’d be lying
Evening, when gardening
Sits at the porch, watching
Senses my looks, smile, footsteps, even coughs
Wakes me every morning, knows my days off
I am down with a bad flu, sick at home
He seems to know, from my voice tone
Voiceless, yet his eyes tell me how he feels
When he’s slow, quiet, forlorn, I know he’s ill
He’s studied my moods, obeys every command
So faithful, unconditionally loving, a great friend!
