your words can dig you a giant hole,
mere words can’t ever fill back in;
it’s as if you’d built you, a special soul,
for overnight visits, or as packaging-
a compact soul, that’s none too fat;
and it’s too late, once the spade appears,
remember when you said, ‘I promise that’
and remember when you heard, ‘I’ll be there’;
it’s a magic spell means the opposite
of whatever the words that were spoken;
the token words, are just the appositive,
shallow words of a promise, broken.
