Dear rum bottle and whiskey and vodka
You have made me become a drinker
And beers you’re not forgotten
I can drink you by the dozen
You give me courage
When I’m feeling shy
You make me brave
When I get high
You have become a friend to me
When I am lonely
With no one for company
You’re always there
When I need you
And I can have
A bottle or two
I can depend on you
To pull me through
When I’m in a dump
I feel good, when you get me drunk
In you I drown my sorrows
Not caring about tomorrow
They say you’re not good for me
And I should give you up
But what they don’t see
I don’t want to stop
Without you, I think I will die
I like how you make me feel so high
You comfort me
When I’m feeling sad
Even though you sometimes make me feel bad
And sick too
But I can’t do without you
Bad memories you help me to forget
My appetite you whet
You help me forget the past
Even for a short time
When you cloud my mind
You’re the liquor I crave
Even though you make me misbehave
They say my life is worthless
When they see me in a drunken mess
But no one seems to care
What’s going on in my head
They say I would be better off dead
I can talk to you, and say what’s on my mind
And you are never unkind
Sometimes in a bit of clarity
I see you as the enemy
And I should listen
To what they’re telling me
But I have become addicted to you
And I need to have a bottle or two
Giving you up is hard to do
You leave me in a drunken stupor
You’re my buddy and lover
But not a good friend
To my liver
But I don’t care at all
In love with you I did fall
And this habit I did try to kick
But deep down I know I’m an alcoholic
You’ll be the death of me some day
When i drink my life away.
