Your soul is a double-edged sword
It wields a protective circle around your heart
Your heart is a chalice-of pain and love
It hungers to be, opened, its contents emptied
It hungers to be saved, remoulded from its clay
It longs to be an opening seed
To make a long journey over the sea
To flower all the colours of a rainbow
Stretching, from one end of eternity to another
Like a lost child looking for a missing father
Or a farther the return of the prodigal son
Or for some long-lost brother
Your heart is a chalice you see
It cradles a world a universe
Your soul is a double-edged sword
It wields a protective circle around your heart
And as you say, it’s been promised to me?
It cuts down the pastures that lie in wait
To be devoured like a slow fuse burning
Your heart is a chalice-of pain and love
It hungers to be, opened, its contents emptied
It hungers to be saved, remoulded from its clay
It longs to be an opening seed once again.
