Out on the Chisholm Trail, the life
Was very difficult indeed
Virtually scratched out a living
And planted the necessary seeds
Worked that ole’ worn land until
It seemed to have nothing more to give
But they kept it up year after year
After all, they had to live
Well, the Chisholm Trail Festival
Teaches folks how it was back then
Even little children learn
That hard work was not just a trend
They set up tents and even a jail
Cooked out on the open fire
Hung their clothes upon the line
Made of string or a strand of wire
You can smell the coffee as it perks
You can get the whiff of bacon too
I’d like to do it for a little while
Do you think that you would too?
