I am trying to let go of you,
But it is you who have me –
Hook, line and sinker.
I plunged into love
In a smooth arc –
Like a fish out of water –
Gulping in blue sky.
I heave on the thick air,
Tumbling into your arms,
Gasping.
My heart is caught in your net.
I am thrashing weakly
Against all these threads of feelings
That knot into a fine mesh and bind me.
And you with the grace of a dancer,
Cast your net out to me,
And with strong arms,
Reeled me in.
Now you must decide
To fish or cut bait.
