I Wandered In And Out Of Dreams

I wandered in and out of dreams,
Lost within some lonely land.
Where I knew not the sun’s bright beams,
Nor the touch of God’s good hand.

A wildfire did rage within my brain,
But I shivered in the cold.
My tortured soul so wracked with pain,
As visions in my mind’s eye did unfold.

Dying of thirst on some arid sands,
Cool water nowhere to be found.
Dying alone, without foes or friends,
I fell to the parched and burning ground.

Then a sweet kiss on my forehead,
And an icy crisp caress,
And I returned from the land of the dead,
Into the arms of my sweet lass.

A cold towel she held upon my face,
And she smiled down with teary eyes.
And I smiled back through the clearing haze,
And out the window, at the summer skies.
