Lying in the dirt, covered with grime,
Unmindful of all even passing time.
An Indian Head Penney, I stumbled across,
My sudden gain, was somebody’s loss.
How long it had lain there, I’ll never know,
As all around it the world did grow.
One hundred years? Yes that could be,
From 1897, the date I could see.
I found a penney, it’s my lucky day,
An Indian Head Penney in the hard baked clay.
Out in front of the old general store,
Now it’s found a home forever more.
