What was once is still
and the same way, what we were after
in the pure air never was: if we stare after
stories with no beginning
or middle long enough
even the floating island floats off
from under us
and there is no need for remorse
for that archaic torso
of that boy German’s Apollo
anyhow never lets you off
but stares and stares, says
“You must change your life.”
