Wind and rain are forecast later in the day
but now with sun ascending—warming chilly air—
the sky’s clear blue—the only clouds
pushed far to the horizon everywhere I look.
Some jets are slowly drawing chalk lines up above
and here below there’s blooming—
fruitless plum, forsythia, and wild mustard—
buds about to burst on a wisteria—
the whole defining temperate
as spring gets ready for its wild surging.
