Too much time,
Too many days and nights
longing for the past.
I recall those golden days
wild with youthful bliss.
I recall, relive, each stolen kiss.
Someday I shall write an ode,
counting footsteps left behind,
Yet today, I decline to do so.
Today, I write a salute to the
echoes of laughter so free, and
those promises you made to me.
Forever and a day we promised,
making a pinkie swear.
Our heads were in the clouds,
we floated on air.
Oh the hours we would spend
doodling stars, for our tomorrow skies.
Together, forever, our destiny; it danced
in our eyes.
How could we know it was merely youthful
expectation and time would change everything.
You went away one day, never to return…
My arms remain empty,
Your old letters are blotched with my tears.
Footsteps of those long ago days,
have echoed through the years!
