The sun looks over my shoulder
and shines on distant rain.
Every drop reflects
a rainbow stain.
Red hangs lowest.
Red as a rose may be.
Red’s warmer waves relax
too long to see.
Highest flung is violet.
Indigo floats on blue,
but Violets may choose
to blend these hues.
As each raindrop falls,
red through violet flashes by
and so the inverted spectrum
tints grey sky.
Violets, red roses,
a rainbow’s fresh debut,
have undeniable charm
and so do you.
