Sheba and Solomon!
A temptress and a paragon;
at least that’s the libel,
that envy has spun.
Sheba and Solomon!
Allies in a hegemon;
or so says the bible,
and a babel of tongue.
Sheba and Solomon!
She bestrid his limp column;
at least that’s the rumour,
spread by the bards.
Sheba and Solomon!
Of dark threats and hollow men.
Sheba and Solomon;
as is writ in the stars!
But Sheba and Solomon,
could lead, but not follow when
the burden of office,
might stand in their way.
Sheba and Solomon!
To each were a talisman;
the sorceress and scholar-man,
enmeshed in love’s sway.
Sheba and Solomon!
A wildcat who’d swallow men;
at least that’s the scandal,
as told by the priests.
Sheba and Solomon!
Of black arts and callow men.
Sheba and Solomon;
as carnal as beasts!
Yet if Sheba and Solomon,
could speak to us from beyond;
would they tell us a story,
of love kept at bay?
Sheba and Solomon!
Two hearts that beat as one.
Sheba and Solomon;
besmirched and betrayed!
