It is oh so quiet now;
a chasm of silence like peace.
It has oh quite subsided now,
the spasm of violence has ceased.
It is oh so quiet now;
the calm a gentle release.
The streets are so empty now,
culled by a zealot police.
Mayhem and madness may taunt us and torture.
Mayhem and madness prime us for slaughter.
Outrage and thunder and blood-boiling temper,
flushes of fever and ashen-faced fervour.
Pillage and plunder and all that encumber,
cankers of malice erupting in rapture…
It is oh so quiet now.
Still, if not yet appeased.
The city is damned and blighted now,
in the naked lament of a priest.
It is oh so quiet now;
a cool wind stirs from the east.
No more clamour and riot now,
the night succumbs to the beast!
Mayhem and madness, a borderline reflex.
Mayhem and madness, an emotional vortex.
Words used in anger, in panic and danger,
exchanged in the manner of hot, manic rancour.
Mayhem and madness and all things absurder.
Mayhem and madness and sad foolish murder…
It is oh so quiet now;
the curfew maintained and increased.
No-one dares to defy it now,
all hope and all trust is deceased.
It is oh so quiet now;
the funk and the terror decreased.
It is oh so quiet now;
the jackals are fled of the feast.
Mayhem and madness, may infect us and fester.
Mayhem and madness, all ferment and ester.
Fear is the tithe and impotence a shelter,
with frenzy and rampage, helter and skelter.
Mayhem and madness, give us no quarter.
Mayhem and madness where chaos is order…
Mayhem and madness, bravado and bluster.
Mayhem and madness, all fury and fluster.
Mayhem and madness, the blast and the blistered.
Mayhem and madness, both bitter and twisted.
Mayhem and madness is anarchy’s daughter.
Mayhem and madness, where chaos is order…
