A force of nature, farmer’s plague, that only touches few,
But devastates crops in its path, this year it hit me too!
A waving field of winter wheat, that’s longing to be cut,
One day is there; the bank gets robbed! (a breach of etiquette?)
You do your best but fail some test? Does God inflict this pain?
The future’s bright, then in the night, hail comes instead of rain!
Roofs can collapse from hail’s impact, a cratered car new moon
That orbits now suspended faith that luck might last through June.
God sends His rain to just, unjust, desires folks do the same,
Our pride though is our enemy if we think Nature’s tame,
We buy insurance, spread our fields (to minimize a loss)
And still, hail comes to all of us; no farmer’s a real boss!
We weather life, one family (souls always in His care!)
When lesson learned’s humility, it’s clear the Father’s there!
