Some moss might be the color of the book
in which all the feathers were black and white
it was better that way they assured her
turning the pages never trust colors
of birds on paper in life they are not
like that the true ones flying in a day
that has since been removed they have been seen
looking out through their names in those black trees
the river turned white before you were born
