When you were courting, all you could think about was how exciting and romantic it was to be together. Back then, you couldn’t do enough to please each other. As time passed, you got so accustomed to married life that you stopped making special efforts for each other. There were always so many responsibilities and details to take care of, that who could think about romance?
But, romantic love is one of the key components to a good relationship, marriage based on romantic feeling will bring about mutual tolerance, sacrifice, commitment and love. In this type of marriage, both side can be devoted, encouraging, helpful, patient and supportive for the other one.
Although it is not the only factor to be taken into account, because marriage also needs should need based on mutual understanding, sympathy and honesty. Still, without romantic love, two independent people will almost certainly break up after a time. That’s also why arranged marriages are very common in the world, they usually do not make either party happy or satisfied in the end.
Here, we have collected 62 marriage poems – the most romantic and meaningful poems about marriage, especially for young couples. Let’s enjoy 55 wonderful marriage poems below. Hope you have beautiful moments on OZoFe.Com!

1, I Promise © Danny Blackburn
I promise…
To take time for you and pursue you passionately,
And I promise to love you compassionately.
I do seek to understand your needs so deeply,
And I promise each day to love you so completely.
I will provide a home of love and emotional purity,
And I promise love, laughter, honesty, and a life where you feel security.
I will make time for you, for without you I have no time,
And I promise you to cherish, honor, respect, admire and be kind.
Time may take us down a path where you need to be taken care of,
And I promise to hold you, clean you and continue to admire you with love.
If life places pain in your heart, I will be there to fill it with love,
And I promise each day to pray for our health and happiness from God above.
I will awaken each day to see your sweet smile and feel your touch,
And I promise to bring you happiness and laughter; I love you so much.
I will be there for you each day of my life,
And I promise to make you happy, for you are my wife.
I give you my heart; I love you girl, can’t you see?
And I promise to be very attentive and caring indeed.
I have run for miles swearing my love to you for life,
And I promise to God to honor you, my beautiful wife
I love you!
2, To My Dear and Loving Husband © Anne Bradstreet
If ever two were one, then surely we.
If ever man were loved by wife, then thee;
If ever wife was happy in a man,
Compare with me ye women if you can.
I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold,
Or all the riches that the East doth hold.
My love is such that rivers cannot quench,
Nor ought but love from thee give recompense.
Thy love is such I can no way repay;
The heavens reward thee manifold, I pray.
Then while we live, in love let’s so persever,
That when we live no more we may live ever.
3, Forever And A Day © Howard Bright
Sometimes when you’re all alone, feeling lonely and so blue,
wondering if I’m even thinking of you.
Thinking I might find somebody else in the places that I go,
but girl there’s some things you really ought to know.
Forever and a day is how long I want you.
Forever and a day I’ll always be true.
Just keep on believing the words that I say –
I will always love you forever and a day.
Far across the country, without you all night long,
wondering what you’re thinking and wondering if I’m wrong.
The pain and the sorrow is much more than I can bear,
all I want to do is reach out and tell you how much I care.
Forever and a day is how long I want you.
Forever and a day I’ll always be true.
Just keep on believing the words that I say –
I will always love you forever and a day.
I’m feeling like a stranger without you all the time.
You’re wondering if I’ll believe you or if I’ll say goodbye.
I don’t know what’s going on, don’t know where you’ve been,
but if my love can’t trust you, it would be my biggest sin.
Forever and a day is how long I want you.
Forever and a day I’ll always be true.
Just keep on believing the words that I say –
I will always love you forever and a day.
4, You’re My Forever © Jim Contarino
You’re so special – more than you know and more than I show.
You’re my soul mate, you’re my lover, you’re all that I know.
It’s your smile and it’s your eyes; it’s your heart and it’s your cries.
I’ll love you forever, even long after we die.
You’re my friend and you’re my life.
You’re my light and you’re my wife.
You’re my shoulder and my strength.
I would die for you and go to any length.
You’re the person I need and the one who is there.
I have you right now, and it doesn’t seem fair.
‘Cause right now isn’t enough and forever is too soon.
Without you I would die and not know what to do.
You’re more than a friend and more than a wife, too.
You’re my forever, and forever isn’t long enough for me and you.
There’s a place in heaven waiting just for you.
I pray there is room right there beside you for me, too.
You’re a beautiful soul, and I could forget you never.
I just pray that we are always together now and forever.
5, Sonnet 116: Let Me Not To The Marriage Of True Minds © William Shakespeare
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove.
O no, it is an ever-fixèd mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wand’ring bark,
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.
Love’s not Time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle’s compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
6, To My Love, Thank You © JN Ridout
It’s been years since they day we met,
And somehow you still love me yet.
With all of my flaws and I have a few..
Sometimes I am battered and feeling blue.
From time to time the beauty escapes me,
And it’s dark and ugly in the mirror that I see..
When sun is gone and only clouds remain,
I turn and see you next to me..
Sometime I simply cannot understand,
Why you stay and continue holding my hand.
Touching my heart and lighting my clouds
Shinning the silver lining, the bright in the dark sky.
Blowing them away, I can always count on you..
You are my pillar, my roof and foundation too,
And even though I hardly say it anymore, I always think it.
Wishing we were never apart, I dream it.
Hoping and praying that somehow I’ll find..
A way to make you happy,
Appreciate and not make you fall apart.
To show you that you are the best a wife can be
I hope I can show you, you when I look and see.
Woman, you are incredible and amazing beyond words can express.
All I can say is thank you, thank you for staying still,
Thank you for loving me and thank you for taking care of our little love nest…
7, Words Are Not Enough © Denese H. Boyett
No words could ever tell you,
No action could express
The way I feel about you.
With you, my life is blessed.
You’re the light in my tunnel.
You are my pot of gold.
You are the strength that gets me through
When despair has taken hold.
You’re my once in a lifetime.
You make my life complete.
You are my blue ribbon
In the shadow of defeat.
There’s nothing I could ever say
And nothing I could do
To let you know just how much
Love is in my heart for you.
8, One Hundred Love Sonnets: XVII © Pablo Neruda
I don’t love you as if you were a rose of salt, topaz,
or arrow of carnations that propagate fire:
I love you as one loves certain obscure things,
secretly, between the shadow and the soul.
I love you as the plant that doesn’t bloom but carries
the light of those flowers, hidden, within itself,
and thanks to your love the tight aroma that arose
from the earth lives dimly in my body.
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where,
I love you directly without problems or pride:
I love you like this because I don’t know any other way to love,
except in this form in which I am not nor are you,
so close that your hand upon my chest is mine,
so close that your eyes close with my dreams.
9, Walk With Me © David Ortiz
One love, one life
One ring, one wife
One deep breath of happiness when I look into your eyes
Today we publicly announce our love, no longer in disguise
Solitaire, some call it one of a kind
A rarity a special find
I did not have to go searching
Faith placed you here
I will never have to look far
I know the one I love is always near
We once said “me for you and you for me”
Today I finally get to see
What were once just words
Today will become a reality
A strong and happy family is what we will be
If you please take my hand and down this isle “walk with me.”
10, Recipe For Happily Ever After © Ilona M. Blake
Today will be perfect
In every single way,
A beautiful fairytale
For your wedding day.
The theme of your day
Is to have love and laughter
And to live your days
Happily ever after.
Living happily is
What we need to survive,
So how does one keep
The magic alive?
How do you light a spark
That never goes out?
And how does one live a life
Without fear or doubt?
How do some people manage
To keep their love strong?
And how do some couples
Always feel like they belong?
What do you need to do
To stay in love forever
And make each day special
And grow fonder together?
Well, these very questions
You must address every day.
You must take the time
To go out of your way,
To always share love
And always share laughter,
To do whatever it takes
To live happily ever after.
Here is a recipe
I think is a must,
So let’s begin with
Always having trust.
Don’t forget it’s important
To have total respect,
And to always stay loyal
To keep your love perfect.
You must communicate
Each and every day.
Three special little words
You must never forget to say,
“I love you.” It’s amazing
How these words make you feel
Happy, safe, and valued,
And they will keep your love real.
A simple act of kindness
Goes a long, long way.
Blend it with understanding
And you can’t go astray.
Don’t forget friendship.
It will help you to cope.
Add a sprinkle of faith
And an abundance of hope.
Remember your smile.
It is beautiful to see.
It can brighten one’s day.
It can make you feel free.
So my wish for you both
Is you always have love and laughter,
And I pray that you will enjoy
Your happily ever after.
11, After 20 Years Of Marriage © Leo Yankevich
Here is a river with a little boat
moored beside its bank. The boat’s the colour
of oranges in the south of Greece, all bloody
and ripe with sweetness, while the bank’s the colour
of meadows in the north of France, deep green
with a heifer’s downy mane, a country rose.
Love, I shall never take you to those places.
I’ve squandered all my gold upon the water,
which for you mirrors the eternal sun.
12, What You Mean To Me © Jo-Anne
I can’t wait to hold you again,
To show you my love and talk again.
To see your face filled with grace,
To here your voice clouding all the noise.
The time is so near and yet so far,
I hate the days when we are apart.
You are my beautiful wife,
And I want more than just one life.
Thank you for sharing everyday with me,
For holding me at night and waking next to me.
For walking beside the journey we are on,
For sharing the blanket and blistering sun.
You are every thing I prayed for,
What am I saying, you are so much more.
The Lord really thought off and blessed me,
The day you said yes and come what may.
I love you my wife with more than I can say,
I’ll love you for ever and a day.
You are the most beautiful person I have ever met,
You are my star, my light and I never want to be apart.
13, I Promise To Love You © Danny Blackburn
I miss your touch, the smile on you face and the sound of your voice so sweet
I love as the day ends, to lie in each others arms, to kiss you and to feel your heart beat
I love to feel you in my arms as you sleep so peaceful and sweet
The warmth of your body, the smell of your perfume and to feel your heart beat
To see you in the night, in the light of the moon for you are so beautiful
Your love, your warmth, your laughter, your touch fills my heart so full
My one desire is to love you so much that you never have doubt
The love that I feel for you is so overpowering that at times I want to shout
I want to shout out that I love you and I adore you
I want the world to hear me praise and love for you
I wish that I could lift you to the stars above
I know that you were sent by God to me with love
I adore you not only for only your beauty but for what you have shared with me, your love
You are a beautiful person whose inner beauty is like that of an angle from above
I praise you as my wife, a wife more perfect than any other
I praise you for you kindness & love that you share with our children as their mother
I look at you and see a special person, one of a kind
God has blessed us all and me especially with a wife so fine
Together we have stood for each other
I can only love you and never another
Please know that I love you for all that you are and all that you give
I promise to love you, hold you, adore you and praise you for as long as I live
I love you
14, Two Become One © Margaret
Two people come together as one
Deeply in love with each other
To tie the bond of sacred marriage
A moment to cherish forever
Marriage has it’s ups and downs
It’s laughter and it’s tears
May both of you be blessed with joy
Throughout the coming years
A house you’ll build in time to come
A place to call your own
You’ll fill it with love and your personal touch
Turning simple walls into a home
May all your hopes and dreams come true
Dearest Nani and Sophie
And your love for one another
Stay as strong as a century-old tree

I promise to commit to you in body and in heart.
I promise my whole life to you; until death do us we part.
16, The Secrets Of A Good Marriage © Ellie Kelsch
Growing up I’ve learnt about love,
I’ve been surrounded by it everyday.
I’m so glad you’ve both found it,
And it’s why we’re here today.
They say there’s secrets to a good marriage,
That there are rules to obey,
But the most important rules of love,
Are what you two do everyday.
It’s the ‘hey babes’ in the morning,
It’s how she makes his tea,
It’s the way he smiles at her,
Such a sweet thing to see.
It’s never being to old to hold hands,
Or to watch movies on the couch,
It’s accepting all the flaws,
Even when the other’s a grouch.
It’s telling him he’s not going grey,
It’s the ‘You look fine in those jeans’
It’s ignoring the mid-life crisis,
and all her little ‘scenes’.
It’s facing the world as one,
And it’s more than love at first sight,
It’s together being a family,
Each and every day and night.
It’s the way he looks into her eyes,
It’s the way that she looks too,
It’s why they stand before us,
and it’s why they said ‘I do’.
And now I stand here today,
On this important moment in life,
With two people very in love,
Now husband and wife.
Growing up, I’ve learnt about love,
and seeing it today proves it true,
You’ve both taught me so much,
And I’d be lucky to be half as happy as you.
17, On Our Wedding Day © Mand
Be with me whenever you can.
Love me for what I am.
Convince me when I am in doubt.
Give me hope when I seem without.
Respect me, show me you care.
Stand by me, always be there.
Forgive me if I should do wrong.
Caress me when nights seem so long.
Assure me, allay my fears.
Be faithful throughout the years.
Trust me as I will trust you.
Encourage my dreams my life through.
Be with me whenever you can.
Love me for what I am.
18, A Word To Husbands © Ogden Nash
To keep your marriage brimming
With love in the loving cup,
Whenever you’re wrong, admit it;
Whenever you’re right, shut up.
19, To The Love Of My Life © Carson Balddwin
It is a step
That I am willing to
Take with you.
I want to risk
Everything when
I say, “I do.”
From here on out
I wish to declare
All of my love
That we share.
When you ask me
How I feel,
I say it is a mixture
Of passion that will heal.
It is a powerful thing
That I cannot explain,
But I want to overcome
Every joy and every pain.
Through the many tears
That will be shed,
Through all the good times and the bad,
I am glad
That I will spend it with you.
For our love is so very strong,
And when we are old,
I want you to know
That I have risked
Everything with you
Until our dying breath
From that day
I said, “I do.”
20, My Darling Wife © Danny Blackburn
My Darling Wife
Your smile is the joy of my day
I have not seen that smile for another day
Each day I need to taste your lips
Another day has past without your kiss
Tonight I go to bed and you are not with me
Oh my love how I miss thee
In the darkness of the night I miss your touch
Each day I love and miss you so much
I write you these thoughts of my love
Sometimes I don’t know, but I trust in God above
I trust that we will be together again someday soon
Under the light of a golden fall moon
I have promised my love, an undying love for only you
I won’t fail you, my devotion and love are yours that is true
I just want to love you, hold you, caress you and never let you go
Can you tell me that this is something that you don’t realize or know
I LOVE YOU AND WILL FOR MY LIFE TIME, DO YOU SEE?

Pammy, you are my life, my wife, my love
22, I Never Knew I Would Love You Like I Do © Kathy Russell
I never knew that I would love someone the way I love you.
You have opened the door to a new and exciting life
that I had never imagined could be…
My days are not empty with you by my side,
and my nights are not as dark with you in my life.
You bring me flowers and leave me love notes.
You make me laugh with your funny jokes.
You hold me close in your arms when things seem tough.
You lend me your shoulders with my heavy loads.
You whisper I love you when you think I’m asleep.
The miles may take us far apart,
but we leave each other the love in our hearts.
Never a night is missed to say I love you.
The minutes turn to hours and then into days.
I am so thankful you, my love, came my way.
23, Time, If I Had © Danny Blackburn
Time, if I had all the time in the world I would have absolutely nothing.
It is not time itself that makes your life worth something.
In the time that I have, I will be kinder, gentler, and more giving.
I will take advantage of all the time I have to show more joy; I will be living.
I will take the time that I have to listen more intently.
I will respond and speak more wisely and more softly.
In the time that I have I will share it with those whom I love,
Because I have no idea how much time I have; that is up to God above.
In the time that I have I will devote myself to God through Christ.
I will respect the word of God because without him I have no life.
In the time that I have I will love and honor my wife in all that I do.
I do this out of love, a devoted and never ending love for you.
In the time that I have I will share a passion for a blessed and positive life.
I will make the time to share my love with my one greatest blessing, my beautiful wife.
In the time that we have together I will lift you up in spirit. and to God I will pray
That you have health, kindness, and love as part of your blessing each and every day.
Time is no longer my friend, and I know that is true.
My wife, that is why I want to devote all my time to loving you.
24, Let There Be Love © Ilona M. Blake
The two of you have gathered
At this beautiful church today.
You’ve invited all of your family and friends
To celebrate your wedding day.
You will say I do to your very best friend,
You will become husband and wife.
Two hearts become one, one spirit, one body.
Today you will share one life.
There will be good times and good memories too.
Together you’ll share laughter and fun.
I pray for you both that from this moment,
A lifetime of happiness has begun.
But there may be tough times, arguments and sadness,
Moments you may shed some tears,
But in these times, I say “Let there be love”
To help you through the difficult years.
Let love surround you in all that you do.
Let love always be your guide.
May you always be there for each other,
Right next to your partner’s side.
Holding their hand, with love in your eyes,
May the two of you stand strong forever.
May you conquer your fears and fight your battles.
May you celebrate love together.
With God in your hearts you will always know love.
You will always know right from wrong.
And may God bless your both, including your children,
Keep you all healthy, safe and strong
A vow you will take, an oath you will make,
Before the good Lord above
To love one as another as I have loved you,
To always “Let there be love.”
25, If Love Had A Life © Mitchell Browder
If comfort had a sound
it’d be that of your voice
If trust had a hue
it’d be your eyes blue
If sweet had a shape
it’d be one of your smiles
If years were seconds
It’d be time with you
If love had a life
it’d be yours… my wife
26, Reaching Ten © Nigel L. Attwood
Ten years, a husband
To you, my Darling Wife.
A gentle hand, a smile,
Changed the way of life.
Into this we came,
So cautious, so burned.
Fate in the stars, maybe,
As love unfurled.
From past ashes,
An everlasting flower
Began full bloom,
Continues to tower.
How do we define it,
A bond so strong?
An infinite meaning –
That word, four letters long.
Here to say thanks
For life rerun –
The family, the children
We share as one.
Ten years? Not enough –
Decades more to follow
To enjoy the adventure,
So let the river flow…
One thing in life
Remains constant, true.
Unquestionably, undeniably…
I love you.
27, Not A Day Goes By © April M. Dawson
Not a day goes by
that I don’t wish you knew how much I love you.
Not a day goes by,
that I don’t wish better for you.
My love is like a river – it is like a fountain; it is longing and flowing for you.
No matter what hard times we’ve been through,
my love has kept on growing for you.
I hope you can see
that it is you I need.
I know we are bound for a higher life,
where we won’t bear any more strife.
Yet, in the still of this life,
not a day goes by
that I’m not praying for you
and still loving you.
28, The Beauty Of True Love © Danny Blackburn
If the beauty of love is like a rose it would be something that I would not need.
The beauty of true love is that it is warmth, kindness and devotion, it is powerful for all the world to see.
If the beauty of love was like the sun it would have warmth, but day turns to night.
The beauty of true love is that it is everlasting, into your life you will always have a beautiful light.
If the beauty of love was like the moon so bright, realize it shines for only at night.
The beauty of true love is that once it is found it is there to shine every night of your life.
If the beauty of love was like the snow, beautiful and so pure, but it melts away.
The beauty of true love is that once it is found it remains so beautiful and so pure for all of your days.
The beauty of true love is that it is a promise of devotion.
It is a commitment that brings forth kind and gentle emotions.
The beauty of true love is you, my wife,
The blessing that you are to our lives.
My love for you is true, committed and will never falter or waiver.
I will ensure that you feel blessed and have a gentle life, one that you will savor.
29, Devoted To Love And Care For You © Danny Blackburn
I got up early this morning and put the coffee on
It was a beautiful morning, a Sunday morning dawn
I made the coffee, two cups, one for me and one for you
I brought them back to our bed but to awake you I could not do
I placed the two cups on the table next to our bed
You did not know that laid back down at the foot of the bed
I watched as you laid there asleep and so peaceful
I watched you thinking to my self and God that you are so beautiful
I watched as you dreamed, the movement of your eyes and often a little smile
You looked amazing there so beautiful , you never knew I was there all the while
I watched the sun light flicker on your beautiful face
I watched you lay there, for me a beautiful place
I then Got up and placed hot water on towels in the tub
I had planed you a Sunday morning massage, a good rub
I finally awoke you about an hour after I had awaken
You never knew the time that I had taken
Time to admire your beauty, your peace as you did sleep
Truly loving each minute and building a memory to keep
I gave you your coffee in bed
“Oh, that’s Cold”, was what you said
You had no idea what I had been doing up all that time
I could not wake you and admired as you slept, so peaceful and fine
I brought more coffee and this time it was hot
I was sorry it was cold, I should have thought
I took off your night shirt, you yet knew my plans
I placed a hot towel on your back, rubbed it in with my hands
Next was a hot oil massage rubbed in with love
Something that I must do for my angel sent from above
You often say, “You don’t have to do this”
Trust me when I say if I did not it is something I would miss
It gives me the ability to express my love in a gentle and caring way
Something that I want to do for you each day
It gives me a chance to touch your body so soft and so beautiful
Something that I want to do, it is called being thoughtful
I know that you are at times in great pain, I am here for you
I hope you know that I would take the pain from you, I love you true
If my touch through a massage brings you relief and pleasure
Please let me do that for you, it means more to me than you can measure
You know that I pray, God is listening from up above
I pray that you know that I do these things out of love
I am your husband true and devoted to love and to care for you
You are my everything, my love, my life, my world, please know this is true
As your husband I am to honor and respect you and ensure that no harm comes to you
A husband should be willing to give his life for his wife, I will give my life for you in all that I do
30, Marry Me Again? © Michelle Gauci
I’ve spent the day thinking
wondering if its real.
There has to be a special way
to show you how I feel.
Your presence makes me tremble
your eyes alight with love
if there is a place called heaven
you were sent from up above
I think of all the memories
the times we spent together
The one thing that I’ll always
know is we will be forever.
I think back to the day
of when we said “I Do”
and you softly whispered in my ear
the words “I love you”
I felt true love that day
and feel it more and more
We have created something magic
in our family of four.
You have been in my thoughts all day
long and then it dawned on me
My love for you is so strong
I want the world to see
I want to take you in my arms
and dance under the rain
So Chris, will you do me the honor
of marrying me again?
Happy birthday
I will always love you.

It’s a symbol of everlasting love
A symbol of forces bigger than us from up above.
Ones undying commitment & trust in another
A special bond that never gives up hope or faith in the other
We wear it show our loyalty and to let others know we are taken.
This little band with a huge message that’s never meant to be forsaken.
Its a kiss or a hug at the end of a long day
Its a sympathetic heart when there is no longer anything to say.
Its a standard that has come unglued in the previous years,
A word taken to loosely- a huge commitment taken so lightly it now appears
But for the lucky few, we take this commitment very serious
We know everything about our partner-nothing is held in or mysterious.
We care for our “better half” in ways we never thought we could
Dream big things together-things we never thought we would
We are in fact better with our other half
They are what make life worth it-the things that make us smile & laugh.
In a cold world, its nice to be able to look down
and remember that special day in your tux or wedding gown.
Its amazing what a gold band on your left index finger can mean
Its not really about the beginning or end-its about all the memories in between.
One life shared together
To me its September 9,2007

32, Love Is Forever © Barbara A. Fondren
Love is meant to be forever even through the toughest of times
Love can say a thousand words in every heart and mind
sometimes love brings troubles and sorrows,
but if we keep that love in mind there’s always a brighter tomorrow
and when that love begins to fade away always remember the vows you made and the love you promised one another
till death do you part only because you found that love within your hearts.
33, All My Love For All My Life © Anthony M. Montuoro
All my love, for all my life.
I’ve said it many times before.
It says it all, I add no more.
Honest, heartfelt for my wife.
In all the Earth, I find no one
who reaches to my very soul.
Who brightens, gladdens, makes me whole
and warms me as the summer sun.
If life is short, or so they say,
Then glad I am to be with you.
To live my life and love you too,
to pass the years as through the day.
When destiny calls and we’re no more,
In heaven I’ll sing this to my wife:
All my love, all my life, all things are now as they were before.
34, Dot-To-Dots © Harold Martin
Because you were young and did not know me,
these are some firsts that I did not see.
Your first toothless smile
and that grin from ear to ear,
Your first tears of sadness
and that sudden grip of fear.
Your first skinned knee
and your mother’s warm embrace,
Your first blushing kiss
followed by a slap to his face.
The first time you received praise,
for that job well done,
Your first run across the lawn,
in the warm summer sun.
There are so many things
that I did not see,
Because of this sad fact,
I make a promise to thee.
Our boy’s toothless smiles will be memories shared,
When tears flow from their eyes we’ll ease their despair.
When they fall off their bikes and scrape their knees,
They will run into our arms and we will hug them and squeeze.
Together, we’ll aid them in this journey of life,
and together, we’ll cry if they ever feel strife.
We’ll teach them life’s lessons and be their guides,
and one day they may smile at us as they kiss their brides.
We’ll sit on our front porch rockers,
and watch our grand-kids romp and play.
Then suddenly, we’ll glance at each other briefly,
but without words, our eyes will say…
“Though we didn’t know each other when each of us were tots,
Our lives have come together seamlessly like dot-to-dots.
While once our lives were separate and our memories were not shared,
The pencil of life has connected our dots, and now we are forever paired.”
35, Still Married © Taleshia
Your hand has already been taken.
You will never be forsaken.
My life long promise will always stand.
Until my last breath I will always hold your hand.
Through everything you’re half of me.
Even though we may not always agree.
You’re my love, my heart.
We shall never part.
This world may not be fair.
But through sickness and in health I promise to be there.
To make you happy that’s my only wish.
To love and obey is also part of my promise.
Being married to you is so sweet.
I recognize that your beauty is not only skin deep.
No mistakes will be healed against you, only buried.
That’s why I believe that we’re still married.

As I lie awake watching you sleep,
I cannot love you and accept defeat.
The love I have still burns strong,
Even if you’re in the wrong.
I’ll never stop fighting for you and I,
Even though it makes me cry.
I will fight for you till the end of time
Because I know your love is mine,
So mark my words on this day,
My efforts are here and here to stay.
I know I haven’t given you my all,
But I’m not going to let us fall.
I love you with all my might,
And this is why I continue to fight.
38, How Do I Choose To Love You? © Sherry Herras
Love as I see it…
Is like waters in the lake
So placid, yet so deep
A serene sight,
So comforting…
Is like the wind
In the silence of the darkest night
Unseen…unscathed…but
Can be strongly felt
It is there…
Has no peaks nor lows
Has a steady beat
A strong rooting ground,
Not shaking…
Has a few roads to choose
Some were rocky and young
Some was new and not taken; I have plunged
Into the unknown…
Seven moons and suns have passed.
Yes, this is how I chose to…and still,
I have chosen you!
39, To My Husband © Barbara M. Hagen
When we were young and newly married,
I thought this the meaning that True Love carried:
Presents of perfume, candy and flowers,
Lacey Valentines and dream castle towers.
But I have learned as our love matures
That there’s more to lasting love like ours:
Caring for babies and sharing the flu,
Remembering to say that I love you.
For we’ve good years behind us, And we’re looking ahead.
Not just taking love from marriage, But giving it instead.
Dear, it’s nice to know, After all this time,
That you’re still my special Valentine.

From the first day I met you,
I knew it was true.
That some day I would fall in love with you.
That time has come to say I DO.
All I can think about is being with you.
You’ve made me better in my path of life
So in return will you be my wife?

42, Giving My Heart © Bella
First time we met,
We smiled laughed and played,
By the big Oak Tree in the back,
A kindergarten friendship we made.
It lasted for years,
Through all of the school life,
Laughs and smiles,
Fights and tears.
And now we know,
We are never apart,
If I did anything right,
In life…
It was giving YOU my heart.
43, True Love Never Lost © Richard Lake Jr
As we age I cherish the past,
two lovers grow, a family at last.
A date night followed by talks and lust,
next day kids and school, waiting for the bus.
Kindergarten went by fast,
dance, baseball, what a blast!
Our little baby is a teen,
where did the time go in between?
Date night, when was the last time?
work, bills, we’re left without a dime.
Our kids our growing, graduation soon,
perhaps like a flower our lost love will bloom.
Our patience short, a sudden turn,
our love colliding, starting to burn.
Shouting, crying, regret once more,
have we forgotten our love, will there be no more?
Back from a seed, a giant Willow Tree,
spreading the roots, a strong foundation, a family tree.
Thankful for much, God’s helping hand,
guiding us with his mighty plan.
Through the dark, two lovers rise,
the blinders are taken from our eyes.
Thankful for much, why couldn’t we see
the blessings abound, a beautiful family.
Laughing, dancing, date nights, talks,
picnics, kissing, moon-lit walks.
Though the trials and tribulations we did see,
that true love and family forever will be.
44, The Beauty Of Internal Marriage © Amanda Madyosi
The beauty of internal marriage
It’s sealed by love
Wrapped by happiness and peace
Obstacles may come still
it will stay strong like an iron,
sweet as honey
the beauty about it
no amount of lies can break it
it’s build from a proper foundation
shaded by honesty
watered by Hope and Faith
the joys of internal marriage
it’s a journey of an Apostil
it’s like a merry go around
sometimes it’s up and sometimes it’s down
still
it bears fruits of life
the real beauty of internal marriage
it’s lead by God filled with love
favored by few
hated by many
the beauty of internal marriage
45, I Remember The Days… © Kelsey Norton
I remember the days I would dream about you, thinking, we soon would be called ‘two.’
I remember the days I would want to cry, and yet, have no reason why.
I remember the days I would see you and Smile,
I remember the day you saw my smile while I was walking down the aisle.
I remember the day we said ‘I do’,
I said those wonderful words because well,
I LOVE YOU!”
46, A Holiday © Ella Wheeler Wilcox
The Wife
The house is like a garden,
The children are the flowers,
The gardener should come methinks
And walk among his bowers,
Oh! lock the door on worry
And shut your cares away,
Not time of year, but love and cheer,
Will make a holiday.
The Husband
Impossible! You women do not know
The toil it takes to make a business grow.
I cannot join you until very late,
So hurry home, nor let the dinner wait.
The Wife
The feast will be like Hamlet
Without a Hamlet part:
The home is but a house, dear,
Till you supply the heart.
The Xmas gift I long for
You need not toil to buy;
Oh! give me back one thing I lack –
The love-light in your eye.
The Husband
Of course I love you, and the children too.
Be sensible, my dear, it is for you
I work so hard to make my business pay.
There, now, run home, enjoy your holiday.
The Wife (turning)
He does not mean to wound me,
I know his heart is kind.
Alas! that man can love us
And be so blind, so blind.
A little time for pleasure,
A little time for play;
A word to prove the life of love
And frighten care away!
Tho’ poor my lot in some small cot
That were a holiday.
The Husband (musing)
She has not meant to wound me, nor to vex –
Zounds! but ’tis difficult to please the sex.
I’ve housed and gowned her like a very queen
Yet there she goes, with discontented mien.
I gave her diamonds only yesterday:
Some women are like that, do what you may.
47, Is It Too Late Now? © Abraham K.
Is it too late now?
A song comes to mind, perhaps from the 80’s – It’s too late baby now, it’s too late”, perhaps you can finish up the rest of the sentence yourself.
That is a depressing thought, and not neccesarily a true one. I had to laugh this morning as my wife pulled me over to watch an amazing sight. She was polishing a piece of jewelry. What was amazing was not the fact that she was polishing. Rather it was what she was polishing and her accompanying statement that made us chuckle collectively.
As a fresh, wet behind the ears, groom of 22, I bought her a simple piece of jewelry to celebrate our new commitment to each other. She took one look at it and searched for a place to hide it. 32 years later (this morning) she discovered the piece in her closet. She was polishing it with the intention of actually wearing it. And then came the accompanying statement. “See” she said, as she polished vigorously, “no matter how many years of marriage go buy, you can still apply the polish”.
And apply it she did.
We know that life can sometimes/often disappoint, but we can pick up the rag of life….apply some polish-inspiration and find ourselves in a much better place.
48, My Husband © Tonya Stamper
My heart was a puzzle full of missing pieces, cold and hard, surrounded by walls
Scared of life, love, happiness, and all you had to offer
I let you fearing the effect you would have over me
Day by day, my heart became whole, warm, soft, and all my walls vanished
You gave me life, but not my life, for this life I had never known
I feel so safe, loved, happy, and secure
You adore me for who I am and not who you want me to be
And have made me see just how strong I truly am
You have taught me the importance of family and all the ties that bind
You have given me the greatest gifts in life that no money in this world could buy
Our wonderful children
Because of you, I never and to look back
I only look forward
Forward to the rest of our lives together and all the wonderful days life still has in-store for us
For all of this, I thank you
You are the most wonderful husband, man, father in this world
I love you more than you will ever know
49, First Comes Love… © Dunia Silva
It dissolved everything I was
and made me into the object of your affections.
I remember looking in your eyes at the beginning
and thinking how can things get any better?
Little did I know that God had a roller coaster ride
in mind for the two of us. It has been
so much fun getting to know who you are,
and yet, I wasn’t expecting to fall in love so easily.
I gave myself to you completely and without regrets.
We were a dynamic couple to be envied.
We had the kind of love that fairy tales are truly made of.
I accepted you, and you accepted me blindly.
Then comes marriage….
My dream come true.
A night to really be remembered. You looked so handsome,
waiting for me at the end of the altar,
I found myself smiling, you took my breath away.
We made it through so many obstacles,
so many hurdles we avoided and had to run through.
I felt so lucky to have you to share my life with,
because I didn’t think I could live without you.
The came baby sitting in a carriage….
Just when I thought life couldn’t possibly get better,
the Lord blessed us with an angel.
She could not be more heaven sent
in every aspect of the word.
I didn’t know a love so true so big so undeniable
as the one I felt for you and her.
I found that I saw you in a new light
so tender and soft holding our daughter in your arms.
But with our wonderful life so complete,
problems were soon sure to come.
Its been a detachment and a distance building up
but never a lack of love and adoration.
The build up of tension and stress
had put our love to the test. Its sad to see our life
having so many ups and downs.
But through our faith and courage we have still stayed strong.
I know we don’t share the joys we used to share before
and that we don’t have the time to spend together like before,
Please remember that we still need to work on us,
that we should never be invisible to one another.
Don’t let me turn away from you when mad,
Don’t let me lose faith in what we have
Still remain the man I fell in love with,
and ill remain the woman I vowed id be.
I know for a fact that I do love you and I’m with you till the end
No matter what comes between us
well move the rocks in the way,
and overcome any obstacles,
because after all…
First comes love…
50, Mr. Too Damn Good © Tim Haywood
I want to be your nightcap
Your breakfast in bed
Your favorite lunch of the day
Your favorite dish at dinner time
I want to be all I can be to you
The smile on your face
Your stars and your moon
Your sun even on a rainy day
Mr. Too Damn Good to you
And when you are tired
I want to be your comfort
Your assurance in your nightmares
And your happiness in your dreams
The ocean that hits your shore
The ground that soaks up your rain
The cloud that hides your lightenings
Your shield chasing your dark clouds away
I want to be the one that treats you good
Mr. Too Damn Good to you
51, Love © Micaela Du Plessis
Love is an emotion like no other
To show devotion to one another
It shows a loved one no fear
Even though you know there is a tear
Love is like a river flowingly happy
Takes your breath away like a mint, not a Chappie
Love is unconditional
Love is something you can’t deny
It can make you laugh, sing and cry
Love shows no fear
It is everywhere, far and near
Love is something you share with one another
Even though you can’t be each other
Love is a dream
Almost like ice-cream
What I’m trying to say is I LOVE YOU DEAR
There I said it, without any fear
I hope you like this poem I wrote
Cos it’s just for you with devotion and hope
52, Always You © Jennilyn Isleta
You may not be the same guy I first laid eyes on,
But you are still the same guy my heart beats for.
You may not be able to hold my hand sometimes,
But you never forget to hug me every time.
You may not have given me the moon nor the stars,
No worries! I have witnessed how you’ve tried to reach the sky.
You may not have fulfilled your promises,
Who cares? We still have a lifetime to share those broken pledges.
You’ve grown gray hairs, yes.!
Don’t frown. Black, gray, white, you’re still a handsome guy.
You said you’ve changed! From bad, worse, to worst. And good, better, to best.
But who doesn’t dear? I too have changed,
From prettiest, prettier, to pretty “much”! Ok, I’ll be fair- from heavy, heavier, to heaviest!
What do you expect? we’re counting years.
And…It’s fifteen years of loving, hating, and loving again.
Fifteen years of caring, neglecting, and caring again.
Fifteen years of ups, downs, and ups again.
We’re not a perfect couple- true!
But I want nobody but you!
We still have a long way to walk, stride, jump, and run.
But I’m here to hold your hand.
And I don’t care if you will change a lot.
What matters most is that it’s always you who’s in the other half of my heart.
53, A Husband’s Prayer © Ben Shearin
Beautiful Belle, gracious and wise.
How heavy my heart,
I see hurt in your eyes.
Curvaceous, stunning-
But so much more.
A warm soul that comforts.
Gently, soften my core.
My friend, my lover, my other half.
We’ve shared one heart.
For a time, a piece taken back.
As I long to be one again,
I see you through opened eyes,
And the fool I’ve been.
May I learn how to treat you,
As a good husband would.
God to guide me- for better, for good.
You deserve the best, and I struggle to be.
Love of my life, are you to me.
54, Little Arguments © Jo-Anne N Ridout
You know sometimes I do not know how to stop the things I say.
Quickly building a defense against what come and what may.
Confused most of the time about what’s going on.
Not sure what why when or how these things begin/begun.
At moment of fight the anger the hurt takes flight.
The feeling that you don’t believe in me.
That alone I stand and even you I have to make see.
That I try so hard and most of the time I’m doing fine.
Why carry on and attack me why can’t certain things just left to be.
Only knowing not wanting to proceed.
With these malicious thoughts and evil deeds.
I don’t want to always feel the need
To explain to you my actions, to feel insufficient to feel mean.
I hate the person that lingers inside of me.
The one that emerges when the argument arises.
The one who looks and seeks disguises.
The one who linger and look for reasons.
The one who seems to always start the fight..
I can say sorry in many diff languages and many ways.
But you will never see what these little arguments do to me.
I can only wonder and hope that you will feel, that you will see.
How much I love you and how much to me you mean.
55, The River-Merchant’s Wife: A Letter © Ezra Pound
While my hair was still cut straight across my forehead
I played about the front gate, pulling flowers.
You came by on bamboo stilts, playing horse,
You walked about my seat, playing with blue plums.
And we went on living in the village of Chokan:
Two small people, without dislike or suspicion.
At fourteen I married My Lord you.
I never laughed, being bashful.
Lowering my head, I looked at the wall.
Called to, a thousand times, I never looked back.
At fifteen I stopped scowling,
I desired my dust to be mingled with yours
Forever and forever and forever.
Why should I climb the look out?
At sixteen you departed,
You went into far Ku-to-yen, by the river of swirling eddies,
And you have been gone five months.
The monkeys make sorrowful noise overhead.
You dragged your feet when you went out.
By the gate now, the moss is grown, the different mosses,
Too deep to clear them away!
The leaves fall early this autumn, in wind.
The paired butterflies are already yellow with August
Over the grass in the West garden;
They hurt me. I grow older.
If you are coming down through the narrows of the river Kiang,
Please let me know beforehand,
And I will come out to meet you
As far as Cho-fu-Sa.
56, Marriage Made Me © Leticia Quenneville
Marriage made me realize I’m not all that direct.
I hesitate to state my needs and things I expect.
Marriage made me realize the control freak I am.
Laid back until my way’s ignored one angry madam.
Marriage made me realize that I can be needy.
Adore my husband so much with a heart so greedy.
Marriage made me realize when I’m too sensitive.
I’ve learned it happens when I dwell or grow pensative.
Marriage made me realize some ways I’m immature.
Stubbornly thinking that I’m right and feeling so sure.
Marriage made me realize that it can be breezy.
It’s hard work to keep it strong and not always easy.
Marriage made me realize never let it get dull.
It’s a worthwhile investment that keeps my heart so full.
Marriage made me realize what ways I’d like to grow.
I look forward to the difference a lifetime will show.
Marriage made me realize the power of this bond.
Unbrakeable loyalty to this man I’ve grown fond.
Time has proven there is no reason to disparage
This union because my best comes out through my marriage.

58, My Rose Never Faded © Lewis Beesinger
While walking through seventeen
I picked a bright red rose.
I was living wild and reckless; it changed my life, I suppose.
A blue ribbon winner with its brilliant flare.
Its beauty was enchanting like a breath of mountain air.
I kept it near my heart, red velvet all aglow.
Why God gave me this gift I guess I’ll never know.
Withstanding troubled times and a heartbreak now and then,
But the rose never wilted amazing me once again.
Roses bloom in their season then die and fall apart.
My rose kept on living, rooted deep within my heart.
My days are growing short now; I have lived a fulfilled life.
The rose I picked when I was young is my fateful loving wife.
She gave me three sons and they filled my bouquet.
Pride and pleasure overflowed to see them blossom day by day.
We have grown old together and my heart is still elated after all the years gone by.
My rose never faded.
59, Our Love Story © Brenda Greenwalt
You entered the room and my heart skipped a beat
I knew in an instant we were destined to meet.
As you looked up from the floor and your eyes locked on mine
A warm subtle chill crept up and down my spine.
Another blind date, I was not in the mood
But given no choice, I waited subdued
What a surprise though when you opened the door
So sweetly amazed, I almost fell to the floor
You walked toward my table, and the closer you came
The warmer my skin, the warmer the flame
You offered your hand as you asked me to dance
And so was the beginning of our sweet romance
That was the day that our journey began
As so it was foretold and so was our plan
As two lives spent alone then became one
And a love like no other could never be undone.
You’ve held my heart in your hands ever since then
As you proved your love to me again and again
Four months later we were husband and wife
And I have always thanked God that you entered my life
60, Blessing For A Marriage © James Dillet Freeman
May your marriage bring you all the exquisite
excitement marriage should bring,
and may life grant you also patience,
tolerance, and understanding.
May you always need one another –
not so much to fill your emptiness
as to help you to know your fullness.
A mountain needs a valley to be complete;
the valley does not make
the mountain less, but more;
and the valley is more a valley because
it has a mountain towering over it.
May you need one another, but not out of weakness.
May you want one another, but not out of lack.
May you entice one another, but not compel one another.
May you embrace one another, but not out encircle one another.
May you succeed in all important ways with one another,
and not fail in the little graces.
May you look for things to praise, often say, “I love you!”
and take no notice of small faults.
If you have quarrels that push you apart,
may both of you hope to have
good sense enough to take the first step back.
May you enter into the mystery which is
the awareness of one another’s
presence – no more physical than spiritual,
warm and near when you are
side by side, and warm and near when
you are in separate rooms
or even distant cities.
May you have happiness,
and may you find it making one another happy.
May you have love, and may you find it loving one another.
61, Marriage Is The Union Of… © Nicholas Gordon
Marriage is the union of
A greater sum than two in love.
Relatives are made by vows,
Relating endless fields and plows.
In bringing families together,
A million lives are changed forever.
Go then in joy, yourselves to please:
Each love shapes many destinies.
62, The Art of a Good Marriage © Wilferd Arlan Peterson
Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens.
A good marriage must be created.
In marriage the little things are the big things.
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say “I love you” at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is at no time taking the other for granted;
the courtship should not end
with the honeymoon, it should continue through the years.
It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together facing the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers the whole family.
It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude of duty or sacrifice,
but in the spirit of joy. It is speaking words of appreciation
and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is not looking for perfection in each other.
It is cultivating flexibility, patience,
understanding and a sense of humour.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow old.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal,
dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal.
It is not only marrying the right partner, it is being the right partner.
