I look deep down into the dale

Far from the dale so dark and deep
Echoes rebound and upwards sweep,
Ringing from the chasm.
The further that my voice resounds
So much the brighter it rebounds
From down below, from down below.
My love, from me she dwells so far
How much I long to be with her
Down there, so far down there.
Yet soon the Spring will come
The Springtime and my Joy
So must I now make ready
To wander forth again.
