I read of “the Flawless Poem”
A Utopia where perfection resides
Where scholarly poets long achieve
And unwelcomed rough-edges hide
Unblemished words stand tall
Within “the Flawless Poem” world
Nay is there a grammatical error
Or poorly structured utterances hurled
Sadly (or not) , I know of no such place
Which I’m certain is evidently true
For my jottings are of a life that’s lived
Where people, places and things are skewed.
Mine is not to mock “the Flawless Poem”
For doing our best, is good intent indeed
But opening minds to what “Flawlessness” is
Only the dear reader can concede.
