Before a sin I’m about to commit
I will think with both my wisdom and wit,
Before a forgiveness that I will need to pray
I would just rather, just walk away.
Before I take a beloved to my bed
I must listen to the emotions and what is said,
Before with a love that I will lay
I would just rather, just walk away.
Before I listen to that one more lie
Then in my bed at night I scream out, “Why”!
Before with a liar that I will stay
I would just rather, just walk away.
Before I hear any person spew out a curse
With vulgarity and insults to others they do immerse,
Before one word of profanity that anyone will say
I would just rather, just walk away.
Before I judge or tell anyone about their sin
First into my soul I will look deep within,
Before on a judging scale I do ever weigh
I would just rather, just walk away.
I will walk, and I will walk, as far as I can
Until I have walked away from transgression as is my plan,
Before any belief or honor that I might betray
I would just rather, just walk away.
