In Iran, Esfahan
-there is a vast Meidan;
-it is named after Shah.
On North-End is Bazaar
-to its south, Masjed Shah.
To the West, if am right
-are columns, called “Forty”
-but in fact, twenty…reflecting.
That and the Chahar Bagh
-Bahai’s “Four Gardens”
-can be called “Miracles.”
These are the works of when
-Europe meant wilderness
-with diseases, hunger…
I was five, not yet six,
-a shop’s boy for selling
– “Giveh” or cotton shoes
– (Almost lost my life when
-was dropped in brook or “Madi! “)
Years later when returned
-as young-man, off Tehran
-saw my past as do now…
My knowledge had doubled
-from when was younger.
All combined, heart and mind
-searched for arts on the walls…
The ancient masterpiece uncovered
-underneath very thick plasters
-thanks to the Mullahs’ faith
-show the life of censor!
Eye of mind looked around
-found the past as is now
-everything wrapped in fog.
