Black tulips, tulips red, tulips gold
They warm my heart from the bitter cold.
On bending stems they curtsy on the wind
Bob on the air, like sunlight, been pinned.
In frozen earth crossways hatched at night
They weep – close – fall asleep till daylight.
Black tulips, tulips red, tulips gold
They warm my heart from the bitter cold.
I wish I were a snowdrop an astronaut.
Above the clouds but I’m not, I’m an inkblot.
