In every Tamil village or town
When a road can’t go straight
And parts into the hands of a T
There presides an idol
Of the remover of obstacles
Lord Ganesh with elephant visage
Reverently placed
Day and night, rain or sun
Tempest, floods or deluge
He sits there smiling
Granting passers by
Apparent choice to choose left or right
Blessed are the ones
Whom he guides
Left or right
He is always right
They never rue
Have no worries
About paths trodden
No dilemmas about roads not taken
Such is the faith
The obstacle-remover grants
With Him therefore begins
All beginnings that are planned
At the T-junctions of life
There ain’t then any culs de sac
