Clouds cumulus, cumulonimbus
Looked from behind the peaks
Of the Western Ghats
They smelt Monsoon
Trade winds that set ships
Inspired by a legendary visage
Which blazed many a male solar plexus
The Helen of Troy
Helens walked the Tamil streets
Their saris fluttering in the wind
Soaked in odoriferous sweat
An evening intoxicated
Neems shook their heads
In demoniac frenzy
A dance of the dames
Of the Arabian Gulf
Scent of sweat and oud
Intermixed to rouse
The passions of the yearning young
Let me lie here inebriate
To capture the beauty of this state
Of ecstasy that pervades
Every atom of my being
Beautiful is life
Beautiful are the Helens
May a thousand ships
Set sail again
My solar plexus aches
In an agony that is sweet
Agony and ecstasy
Oh, how blazing is this corporeal being
Of everyone of us slowly dying
Whoever said the body is a thing! ?
