My admonitions may seem bitter, I know, my child,
But how can I remain silent when you go wrong,
My marks may have made a mark on your tender heart, I know, my child,
But how else can I make your heart strong to withstand the droughts in life
My reprimands may have given you sleepless nights, I know my child,
But how else can I make you tough to row the boat through life’s gales
My harsh words may have wounded you deeply, I know, my child,
But how else can I fill your thoughts with the truth of reality.
But you are the blossom that fills my heart with the fragrance to move forward with a mother’s pride.
