Stars are my comforting guide
In the bleak darkness of the empty beach
And the murmuring of the restless tide to reach
Out to hear the many voices across the horizon
Of earth and heaven,
Joining me in this moment of being on the run,
From the agonising truth
Of beauty hiding in dark corners not
allowed to have fun,
The voices reach out to try and untangle my lonely darkness,
Stars twinkle in the freedom of the ocean blue eyes of my dad,
The moon is my mam’s sultry smile
Forever warm but her green flecked eyes tinged with the emotion sad,
I am sad
Sad to lose all the stars
Shining from afar
As I bleed from an old scar,
But in the solitude of darkened sea and sky,
I glance quickly back to the light of Ryan’s Bar,
The past has consumed the future,
But the stars and moon catch my cold hands,
There is the steady rhythm of the tide
The rhythm of never saying goodbye
I connect back to when I was a girl so shy
I walk now with the warmth of my parents love,
This rhythm is a beautiful lullabie
Of the night seeing the truth from the heavens above.
