Where did my soul wander in the fields of time?
As I pondered,
At the slip, sliding of time,
Memories like an old movie reel,
With all my sentimental appeal,
How did I used to feel?
When my emotions soared into orbit,
With my thundering passion into a constant loving fit,
Twisting and turning with fiction,
I was loving an imposter playing Casanova,
Rumble, tumble with my feelings
Like the aroma of blooming roses,
So sensual a glorious beauty of my imagination,
My lover turned into a sensation,
But reality bites and I quickly coloured over with a rainbow,
That made my heart blossom,
My soul skipped with a childlike joy,
As I walked with innocence along the old yellow brick road,
Just as I unpacked my lover’s load,
I tried to follow a wandering star,
That was always out of my reach,
As it twinkled and shone in the heavens so far,
Away from the noisy crowd.
Now I’m driving in my old car,
Along the old yellow brick road,
I had kissed a prince that turned into a toad,
But the pulse of life rolls on with my mellowed soul,
Life ever after with a rose for my heart,
That loves my new love until death do us part.
