Peculiar the scent of wood anemones,
they smell like the sweat of aestuous women,
bitter, green. Each year I enter
a copse where these fox-flowers grow.
For their exquisiteness I go, then
think of women I never loved, and feared,
too soon thinking of the cyclamen.
