Unspoken words drip and melt
To choke my heart before it wakes
Sliding to fill each tiny fracture
Covering a surface too brittle
Pressure builds to boiling point
As emotions whirl inside
With the fury of a hurricane
The leap of faith never taken
Hangs to mock and scorn
Memories kept in boxes of oak
Hidden below the ground
Chances left to walk away
Seep from its grain so fast
Hands can’t stop the flood
Better stay inside yourself
Than risk that final step
That leads into the light
Bright and dangerous
With promises of a life
That fulfills every desire
With pleasures unknown
