The white frost lay thick upon the ground,
A crispness filled the air.
Different sized footprints could be found,
One set owned by a hare.
Who with his sharp pricked up ears did bound,
Across the thoroughfare.
A nimble creature, meticulous,
Alert and on his guard,
So hating to be conspicuous,
Around a farm and yard.
You will find him totally lawless,
He roams with no regard.
A stately animal, head held high,
Vigilant all the while.
Any slight noise he might hear nearby,
With moving limbs agile.
He speeds off with a blink of his eye,
A flying projectile.
